Modchip
From WiiLi
A modchip is a chip that is inserted into a console in order to add/modify/delete features that are in the console. The most common change is to remove protections against running backups, homebrew, and imported games. The Wii currently only has modchips of the drivechip type, chips that modify DVD firmware. Wiikey, Wiinja, Cyclowiz, Chiip, Wiip and Wiifree are all examples of a drivechip. Click drivechip for more information on them.
[edit] Theoretically Possible Modchips
[edit] SD-Card/USB-MSD to DVD Mod
Capture the SD-Card/USB-MassStorageDevice Data and map it to the DVD drive.
Requires: Bypass the DVD-Check, and stream the data captured from source, into the Wii. A Controller could possibly handle both.
[edit] Bluetooth Power Mod
Modify bluetooth range through a modchip.
Requires: Modification of Host and Clients (Wii and Controllers)
